Ministry of Higher Education, research, and innovation signed a partnership agreement with Omantel to run and manage Oman Research and Education Network (OMREN).

The agreement was signed by Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, while on the other side it was signed by Talal bin Saeed Al Maamari, CEO of Omantel. Under this agreement, Omantel will work to continue expanding the network services to include more institutions of higher education, research centers, and vital sectors.

About this agreement, Warda bint sarhan alhabsi the acting director of the Oman Research and Education Network (OMREN), stated ‘We are pleased to continue the cooperation with Omantel, as this partnership will enable to achieve the link between local academic and research institutions on the one hand and with other organizations outside the sultanate, in addition to communicating with Research and Education networks worldwide.’ It should be noted that Omantel is working to empower OMREN by providing its members a connection with the data center locally and linking them with the research and education networks internationally such as ASREN, APAN, GEANT, and INTERNET2.
