Oman Research and Education Network at the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation held the annual conference (OTS21) under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Ali Al Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology and in the presence of His Excellency H.E Dr. Saif Al-Hiddabi Undersecretary of Research and Innovation at the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation.
The summit was held by OMREN on the virtual platform with wide local and international participation, the event attracted more than 500 participants from 20 countries, featuring 26 speakers’ virtual attendance.
Oman Research and Education Network is considered as one of the most important national projects that aim to connect the research and education community in Oman with a unified high-speed communications network and to enable a unified platform for research & education services with exclusive prices and exceptions.
Exceeding the expectations, the conference witnessed a wide number of participation of specialists from the members and officials of the Arab and international networks for research and education networks
And an extreme presence from international speakers and sponsored by many leading companies in providing automated and specialized research solutions.
Also the participation of many academic figures, experts & leaders from the research and education sector, and different sectors such as information technology and communications, high-performance computing, virtual laboratories, data centers, and others,
The summit also spoke of the importance of NRENs and called for Supporting & developing the infrastructure of scientific research and education networks at the national and regional levels in the Arab region, to motivate the concerned authorities to support and develop their networks and setting flexible policies to enable collaboration between networks in the region and improve their services. also, to involve decision-makers, policymakers, leaders of research and education in countries that lack Research and education networks or are in their early stages, to support (ASREN) and the relevant international networks.
